BROADCASTING || News Stories

Hello all!

Yep the caption says it all.

So as I am in my final stages of my Broadcasting and Journalism degree I have been covering a lot of news stories and in the Production studios filming and learning how to become a ‘news reporter’.

In one of my units, Practical Broadcasting over the semester, we have been learning everything from radio producing, recording and voicers to being on screen in the green room, reading out the news, filming the weather, doing live crossovers, 1 on 1 interviews and talking for 2 minutes on the spot for the shopping channel.

Heres some snaps from the semester:

Although it sounds like all fun and games, let me tell you.. it was not!!! It was a lot of pressure, and quiet confronting and challenging. But all in all, it was a successful semester and we had a load of fun every week.

Whilst being in front of the camera, we also learnt how to work behind the scenes, the production studios, the cameras, the technical effects panel and even premier pro, a video editing program.

For one of my assignments we had to create a package story for a show our class is producing and recording for Channel 7 called Project WA airing a week before christmas. We all had to submit stories that we each wrote, sourced, interviewed, filmed and edited.

I did two stories. One being Meetups. The new way to network and meet people around town face to face, by signing up online and participating in group events that interest you.

Here is the story:

My second story was about Bali Weddings. How Australians are choosing exotic overseas destinations to say ‘I do’ – is it because its more affordable? and couples can get not only a wedding, but a honeymoon all in one?
